    CNES’s balloons activity consists in designing and operating aerostatic vehicles to carry scientific instruments.

    As part of the modernization of the flight chain, COMAT was asked to study, design, manufacture and then qualify equipment composing the flight chain of OSB balloons:

    • NSO Lay Bin (gondola)
      • Ballast tray structure
      • Ballast shedding valve
      • Force sensor (real-time measurement of the light bin mass)
    • Valve (load shedding valve)
    • Fittings (interface accessories of the various components of the flight chain)
