    Main benefits

    In the context of future lunar missions, ESA, COMAT and ONERA have signed a contract with the following objectives:

    • Develop and produce a prototype allowing the lunar dust removal from the optical surface instruments (lenses, visor, etc.).
    • Characterize the performance of the prototype with different EDS (Electrodynamic Dust Shield) samples and on different ranges of lunar dust.
    • Provide ESA with prospects and potential applications of the dust removal system.
