The SADM 400 (Solar Array Drive Mechanism) has been developed by COMAT for satellites with up to 400W by solar array wing. This very compact mechanism allows accommodation on small satellites with an integrated slip ring. This equipment is delivered with embedded plug & play electronics.

The second version, SADM 1600, will be able to handle 1600W per solar array wing. Currently under development, its qualification is expected for S1 2024.

COMAT is developing a SADM (Solar Array Drive Mechanism) to increase the exposure of the solar panels notably on Earth observation platforms.  This development relies on the bricks already developed by COMAT in the context of the development of its products.

Indeed, the main innovation of this product relies on the use of industrial components that meet the constraints of space environment and are compatible with its life span.

This SADM is the only European off-the-shelf solution for the satellite platforms needing more power. The SADM 400 will be available in Q2 2023.
